How to Use Microsoft Teams to Improve your Internal Communications

Subscribe to Email Updates

It is no secret that effective internal communications are vital to your company success. However, the tools to accomplish this vary greatly amongst industry, company size, employee behavior, and more. One great tool is Microsoft Teams, which can be a very valuable communication tool when used properly. However, if you’re new to this platform or only have a surface-level understanding of it, then you might not know how to take full advantage of everything it has to offer or how to integrate it with your existing tools. Here are some helpful tips on how to effectively use Microsoft Teams for your internal communications.

Use Mentions to Filter Through Activity

Since you can do so much on Microsoft Teams, it can be hard to sort through all of the personal to-do lists and other items in order to find updates to the latest conversations. Luckily, this becomes much easier when you click on the activity tab, choose the filter button, and then click on @mentions.

This feature lets you see anything you were mentioned in and immediately gain access to any key conversations. Think of all the time you’ll save by not having to manually scroll through the entire feed every time you want to find an instance where you were mentioned.

Save Messages or Other Content For Later Viewing

You’ll often run into a situation where you have a message or some other form of content that is important and you’ll want to access later on. Rather than trying to scour through the entire platform to find it, you can simply bookmark it.

In order to do this, you just need to hover over a message and then click on the bookmark icon that shows up. This saves the message and allows you to instantly find it by typing “/saved” into the search bar.

Publish Your Communications to Teams

Finally, you can publish the content that you create through your company app, or other means, straight to your team. Several content creation tools allow integration with Microsoft Teams, ensuring no employee misses your communications, regardless of the medium they prefer. Contact your company app admin to discover how to seamlessly integrate your platforms!
